Long Gallery

$320 plus $32 GST per roll.

A grand damask design that was once hung in the long gallery at Temple Newsam, hence its name. In this design, tall vases are arranged one above the other with floral wreaths, sprays of blossom and foliage in a high repeat of just over a metre. The original design had a repeat of 18 feet and would have been manufactured as a special commission and at great cost. Zoffany reproduced this paper from a document of 1826 which was based on the earlier version from 1735-50.
