Founded in 1875 by John Perry, Cole & Son continues to produce innovative and beautiful designs.
Originally situated in Islington, north London, Cole & Son was in the heart of an area famous for the hand block printing companies that worked there during the 18th and 19th centuries.
The Cole & Son block archive includes J C Crace & Son designs, used to furnish many stately homes, palaces, castles and theatres throughout Britain and overseas. It also includes the wallpaper designs of A W Pugin for the Palace of Westminster.
In 1938, Cole & Son became the custodian of the most significant collection of wooden printing blocks in Britain.
